The Future of Vision

In principle, there would be a way to stimulate a person's brain through artificial means that would allow them to see something like a new color. It can actually get some of the way there by taking sonar and rendering it either directly into the brain or into some other sensation. This, I think, is in principle possible, but of course, our brains didn't evolve to deal with signals other than the ones we typically experience.
