Atypical Translocations - What's the Difference?

Atypical translocations can also be a definition of AML as an atypical translocation. So you hybridize these fluorescently labeled fragments of DNA onto the patient's cells. And that's so important that, in this case, we're looking what we call the dual-color dual fusion probe and looking to see if there's a fusion signal. The typical 1517 balanced translocation is yellow with lots of yellow signals within the cell. That was diagnostic that this patient had APL.
