The Involute Curve for Gears
There's a specific type of curve on a gear tooth called an involute curve. An involute curve is a really special way to make gears always have basically contact. So that i iproves accuracy, that reduces tork and friction where you don't want it. And i would assume that would also increase the life span of the device.
