CHAPTER

The Role of Perceptual Skills in Running

In order to run anything to do with a gate you've got to be able to stand on one leg so you can look at their strategy in standing and then you see what happens to all of the joints in the kinetic chain as they transfer their load onto one leg. There's also a rotational component involved in running so you need to look at trunk rotation so contralateral pelvic and thorax rotation and there's also arm movement. So probably from a one leg standing I would progress to a step forward and a few steps forward and then obviously it starts to get really difficult to progress that without actually then watching them run right.
