The Impact of Dams on the Mikong Delta
Around half a million hectares of agricultural land relies on water from the dam to grow melons vegetables grain and oil seed there is a risk that fertile soil could turn into deserts. Half of the world's river systems host hydroelectric dams they offer a reliable source of electricity essential to an increasingly industrializing planet but over in the mikong delta where a series of almost a dozen dams are under construction it's the lack of future floods and the silt that comes with that that is causing concern.
