How to Interpret a Motion to Dismiss a Case
A motion to dismiss is where the defendant says there's no legal case here. If denied, then you can have a trial or settlement at any point along in that process. A denial just means someone on one side has alleged enough with enough specific facts that if you treat them as true, they might win in front of a jury. So be careful in looking at claims that the outcome of a motion to dismiss means anything other than the case is going to move forward.
