In 1980 for the very first time Barbie herself became a woman of color, not colored fancy. She sold her company after 15 years and I don't know that she made much of a profit. Ruth would go into meetings with executives and take her shirt off and say, guess which one's not real. But she was also going into stores and showing people how to fit them properly.
