The Disbelief of Volunteers
Despite the very heavy nature of the war, but another great conversation I had was with a firefighter from France. He's been a firefighter for 30 years and we were chatting casually in French and he kept set he repeated the word war several times because he couldn't believe that he was himself saying it. The war raises a lot of difficult questions for us about human nature and the illusion of progress there's some of the same questions that the pandemic has raised you know the illusion of our own safety has been dispelled. These are difficult to face.
