New York Sucks as a Place for Music
Sevas is a sort of sense of community, because you mention a lot of like minded musicians comi down. The reason that new york sucks as a place for music is that all the bands are kind of themselves and in competition with each other. In places like chicago or louisville or minneapolis, or any of the midwestern cities where there was a really strong underground scene at the time, an awful lot of the bands worked arm in arm together. Even that seems kind of machiavellian to me. It doesn't seem ike totally organic.
