When there's too much sodium outside the cell compared to inside the cell, so hype netramia, a water's going to be pulled out of the cel. The body actually has adaptive regulatory mechanisms to try and maintain the fluid balance. So this is just one mechanism in which the cells can die due to the hyper netrimia. But i thought it was amazing that there's actually the adaptive. It doesn't just shrink and then stays shrunk and dies.
In this BIG episode, Dr Matt & Dr Mike discuss electrolytes and ions! They explain what important roles substances like sodium (Na+), Potassium (K+), Chloride (Cl-), Calcium (Ca2+), and Magnesium (Mg2+) play in the body! What happens when we have too much or too little??
