Is Shermans Story a Distraction From His Own Story?

Shermans story has a slightly unusual construction, right? As told by a first person narrator. But for long stretches of it, what we get are stories about other people. And we don't learn as much about the narrator as we learn theother people,. Why do you think that is? It's a question i've been asking myself. I think i have the answer. Ok, this story replicates a 12 step meeting where you listen to people tell their stories and you don't interrupt. You listen, and you encourage people to tell their battles to recovery and their battles priod.
