Hierocles was a pagan Platonist active in the middle of the 5th century. He wrote about Providence and Pythagorean Saines. After being beaten bloody, he scooped up some of his own blood and flick it at the judge. His choice quote: "Drink this wine now that you have eaten human flesh"
