Death Panel

CHAPTER

Organizational Abandonment and Disability

Sally Kohn: Health is not an individual trait. It's a society level construct that attempts to give language to chances for survival at the population level. And we think of it as a kind of intrinsic property, like a possession that people have or that people can buy themselves,. But that ultimately, health is this sort of regime of scarcity.Kohn: No one is healthy because what health actually is is something that encompasses way beyond the individual's own bodily state. Having clean air and clean water, having housing that's not commodified so heavily that three quarters of your income goes to your housing counts as a social determinant of health.
