After his September 1934 interview with Jerry Maguire, Paul Connelly French actually held off on publishing the story. Spedley wanted the government to investigate, but must have recognized how insane his allegations sounded. So we went to the Secret Service and told them everything he knew. And the government did come calling. The House of Representatives put together a committee to investigate propaganda efforts against the U.S. government.
