Is There a Connection Between Socialism and Nationalism?
I think that there is indeed that sort of underground passage that connects socialism, or at least socialism in one country, with quite sinister nationalist and xenophobic politics. I do think that socialists who rejected the book in 1944 should have paid a bit more attention to the passage about the dangers of populism and xenophobia. Because it seems to me that is a genuine insight of his. There is a danger there that needs to be guarded against.
