The Differences Between Buddhism and Stoicism

Buddhism seems to resonate more with epicureanism than stoicism. Stoicism places virtue first and foremost, whereas early Buddhism puts it in the background. The word "virtue" has too many connotations that don't necessarily translate to modern English. You can make a reasonable inference that things like practice are an instrument to Nirvana in early Buddhism.
