Electric potential energy is a form of potential energy. It results from electric forces, from the potential energy that objects could gain from moving down an electric field. If I have a positive and a negative charge, and I separate them, the charges have potential energy. As they move towards each other, though that electric potential energy is converted into kinetic energy.
