What Is the Difference Between the Renaissance and the Avant-Garde?
Music is constantly flowing and transforming. There are also all sorts of overlapping contrasting movements happening at any given time. But if you wanted to make a generalization, you could say that during the Renaissance, music was essentially linear. So this is really just for the sake of convenience.
