Even by 1918 here you have massive theaters, all managed by Roxy. On October 24th 1919 the 5,230 seat Capitol Theater opened at 51st and Broadway. That would open with the first United Artist film ever made Douglas Fairbanks in His Majesty the American plus a dancing review that featured a young dancer named Mae West. The Capitol was just too large couldn't seem to really attract enough people so they brought in, you guessed it, that master showman, Roxy to fix it,. He would run the Capitol Theater from 1920 until 1925. But then of course movie theaters of all shapes and sizes are now going up all through the city, all through the country.
