The book covers the period from 1925 to 1945. It chronicles two broad trends that I talk about in the book. The political one is first the rise of progressivism and then it's climax, the climax of progressivism with the election of Franklin Roosevelt in 1932. And what you have during that period are the rise of bureaucratic government and the welfare state.
