The Origins of Coco Chanel's Childhood

Coco Chanel was born Gabrielle Chasnel on August 19th, 1883. Her mother Eugenie is about 20 years old when she has Gabrielle and her father is a guy named Henri Albert,. And as you might have guessed from the fact that she was born in a poor house, they did not come from money. As an adult, Coco didn't like to talk about her birth and her early life but Justine Picardi notes one story that she told often enough that we can probably glean something from it.
