The Life and Work of Thrasimakis
Thrasimakis may have been born in Chalcedon, opposite of Byzantium on the Bosphorus. Tradition holds that he lived from around 459 to 400 BC; Cicero seems to imply Gorgius and Thrasimakis were contemporaries. Aristotle credits him with a pivotal role in the development of rhetorical theory. He is noted for his unabashed, even reckless defense of his position about justice.
