Fire dancer is building a new validator client for Solana. It's going to enable greater resiliency of the network because you have two different copies of the implementation. In testing environments, they've pushed 1.2 million transactions per second through it. That's about 10 times faster than the current theoretical bounds of what you see on the existing client.
