The Struggle to Achieve Equal Treatment
If we just take the Constitution of the United States as a framework, and we enforced it fairly, I actually think we'd be in a very different place. The writers of that Constitution wrote these words about equality and liberty and justice but they didn't extend those protections to people who were different or enslaved. We can say we believe in equal treatment, just treatment, fair treatment. But if we disfavor people,. we abuse people, we enslave people, we terrorize people, we lynch people, doesn't mean anything.
