The Challenges of Privatization in the US

In the case of highways, we don't have private sector experience in the US with people running highways. Now in contrast, I think airports are a much more plausible candidate for privatization because you already do have implicitly any way forms of competition among airports in the lot of metropolitan areas in the US. And so as a practical matter, we wanted to lay out possibilities where there was interest and plausible ways of setting up experiments by policymakers. But what I'm really enthusiastic about these days is that it would be extremely helpful if policymakers were much more open to the potential benefits we're going to get from these new technologies.
