Extrication Principles
We do need to worry about patients who've got evidence of injury, and all those injuries should be considered time dependent. And we need to move our principal focus from movement minimization to the minimization of entrapment time. My personal approach and the team approach for a patient like this might involve the minimum extrication you need in order to facilitate a further self extrication. So that might be cutting off the door, or making some space around that a post, and then allowing the patient to step out. But absolutely minimizing the time that that patient spends trapped in the vehicle.
