The Book of Job Is a New Genre of Wisdom Literature

Job is the first book in a new section of the Old Testament that smart fancy people refer to as wisdom literature. It's just a little bit of story mixed with tons of hypothetical dialogue and reflection. I don't think what we're reading here is supposed to be understood as a literal description of how things work in the heavenly realms.
