There was not a single person of color in the decision-making room. Peter Rommel, president of Disney Design and Develop, development stated that the park was designed to be a one day experience. He acknowledged that creating entertainment around historical events such as slavery in the Civil War could be controversial. But he elaborated that an intelligent story properly told shouldn't offend anybody.
