The History of the Odyssey
The Iliad and the Odyssey are seen as being almost like the Bible of the ancient world. The lessons that could be drawn from it were instructive for everyday life. These were all myths and themes which could be extracted from the poems to be held so quite close to people. Those elements you see in cultures across the world whether it's Song Alliance in indigenous Australia or elsewhere in the ancient world where there are stories.
