Day 247: True Repentance (2022)

The Bible in a Year (with Fr. Mike Schmitz)

00:00

I Proclame Liberty to Pestilence and to Famine, You Have the Freedom to Die by the Sword

The people of israel were not repenting, but they may be looking out for themselves. The moment babylon turns away from the gates, like babylon had to go off and fight some other battles, so left jerusalem not as much under siege any more. And also, far from this being an actual act of repentance, this could be simply an act of deception, deviousness and trying to get out of trouble. But again, it ends in disaster, because at the end of chapter 34, god says, i'm bringing babylon back, and they 're going to destroy your city. Your repentance was not real.
