The Yamnaia Way of Life
We don't know exactly where the earliest Yamnaia came from, which of the existing groups on the steppe were their exact progenitors. What we can tell is that there's a very specific kind of ancestry that's native to the steppe that expanded along with the Yamnaia way of life. The best explanation for this new archaeological culture is that migrants from further east took over this territory. We can guess that they set themselves up as chieftains in a tributary relationship with local farmers.
