How Expectations Influence Mental Performance

Expectation is something that any runner can implement into their run or workout anytime in the upcoming days. Our natural instinctive human brain really struggles with the meaningful unknown and one of those ways it tries to do that is by creating expectations. We don't actually know until you do it so oftentimes when we've created some expectations we go into a race with our stress system higher than if we didn't have them. It raises the stress level which predisposes you to blowing up because it already makes your stress system a little more on red alert in the race plus it limits your joyful opportunities after the race.
