Sothe discovery rocked a lot of historical assumptions, and it's caused historians to rethink their understanding of enslavement in the area. The remains were sent to howard university and washington, d c to be examined by archaeology teams. And in two thousand and three they were re interred in manhattan in what was called a ceremonial cradle moving event. So it's a reminder of just how much history is covered up and buried, in many cases, quite literally.
