Reinventing Leadership and the Rise of the Creator Capitalist

Donovan offers a personal take on how the pace of change is shifting what it takes to be a successful executive. He predicts that in the near future, the average age of top industry CEOs will drop significantly, as the new environment favors younger leaders who are native to emerging technologies. Retired Chief Executive Officer of AT&T Communications, LLC, a wholly-owned subsidiary of AT&T Inc. John Donovan served as CEO from August 2017 until his retirement in October 2019.

He was Chief Strategy Officer and Group President of AT&T Technology and Operations from January 2012 through August 2017, and Chief Technology Officer of AT&T Inc. from April 2008 through January 2012.

He has served on the board of directors of Palo Alto Networks, Inc. since 2012 and was a member of the President’s National Security Telecommunications Advisory Committee from 2019 to 2023.
