The Bloody Island Massacre of 1850

Over a thousand Native Americans, mostly Palmo, died in retaliation for the deaths of Stoney and Kelsey. Most of the architects of these slaughters faced adulation rather than punishment. During the entire year of 1850, only one white man was convicted of the murder of a native person. He only had to do the laundry of the sheriff who arrested him.
