What Duty Does a Landlord Owe a Tenant to Keep Them Safe From Criminal Acts?
Under common law, the landlord has no duty to provide safe premises so that tenants are safe from criminal acts of other people. The more modern view is that a landlord has a duty to take reasonable precautions to protect the tenant against foreseeable attacks. It's your job as a lawy to make the argument that something is or is not reasonable under the circumstances. Like any exam question, look at the context and make your best argument.
