Most tornadoes move forward 30 miles an hour give or take this one was called the Tri-State tornadoes March 18th 1925 it's sort of sped through Illinois and it this one was moving at 73 miles an hour so in this case getting out of its way would probably not have been an option. Your best bet is to get into a house you sort of want to get as many walls between you and the outside as possible because really the most dangerous thing about a tornado is the things that it's throwing around trees, even locomotives were being tossed about.
