In Our Time: Culture
The Unsettled Childhood of Stevie Smith
Stevie Smith published a poetry collection called Not Waving, But Drowning in 1957. She is the author of more than half a dozen collections of poetry and three novels. Her poems can appear deceptively simple, but often beneath the surface there are themes of melancholy, loneliness, love, and especially death. We meet and discuss Stevie Smith with our German Earl Todd; Nereen Masun: 20th Century Literature; Will May: Modern and Contemporary Literature.
