Sylvia Berlusconi's Economic Program

Italy's economy has been famously stagnant for several decades. Did Berlusconi make that stagnation worse? Or did he not really affect it one way or the other? I think it's unfair to blame Berlusconi personally for Italy's stagnation. But he did reflect, you might say, the conservative complacent tendencies within Italiansociety. Frankly reveled in them, right? The symptomatic of a less than dynamic and entrepreneurial culture. He personified what one American economic anthropologist unkindly referred to as the amoral familialism of Italian society.
