My favorite moment in this piece comes right at the beginning of the third movement, entitled The Grinning Fortune Teller with the False Teeth. It is a tour de force of writing for percussion, starting with xylophone, moving to the sinceros, and then the combination of cymbals, snare drums, sound bowls, and piano. I doubt you've ever heard anything like this. That's followed by an absolutely bizarre combination of piano and strings, because the strings are basically playing percussively themselves.
