I don't know what would be gained from such an attack other than just trying to disrupt the network. There is no better thing than time because as many commentators have pointed out, time is the scarcest resource there is. And so I do think that time chain still has legs. GJ does not agree and I'm flip-flopping on whether it is an implementation detail or not.
