After a career in technical education, he decided to try his hand at farming. He was hired by a non-profit farm that had just received a grant from the US Department of Agriculture. But soon realised it wasn't going to be as successful as he'd hoped. After leaving teaching, he and his wife set up their own school farm - but there were challenges ahead.
