What Is Problem Representation?

A problem representation is a mental model we construct that summarizes our understanding of the problem. Cognitive psychologists believe that when we encounter a complicated problem, before you start solution planning, step one would be defining the problem. It could be an equation, an image, anything that describes how a person is conceptualizing the problem they are trying to solve.
