Tension is the biggest bridge in a planning career to understand and be comfortable with tention. I've met an awful lot of very talented people who weren't able to do this by a certain point in their career. Some planners are systems thinkers. They love a to b to c. And if you suggest, well, but that's not very interesting, they really have trouble with it because it's not logical. We've had a load of our planners here go on to lateral thinking training with the excellent john leech,. It's just about teasing out different models or ways of thinking about a problem that encourages them to think differently.
