Is There a Tradition of Patriotism in China?

There's clearly a tradition of that, but the question would be, has the party state through very active measures and maybe other cultural things that are going on has sort of inculcated the sense that to be patriotic is to not speak those, you know, criticisms or to not share them. I think in any authoritarian state and in any Marxist, Leninist state, the state tries to get people to not think critically and to not speak critically. This is the bedrock of authoritarianism and China is a very effective authoritarian state.
