The Subcortical Structure of the Brain

The cortex covers the frontal, parietal, temporal, and occipital lobes. The amygdala is actually part of the temporal lobe, although it has a subcortical structure. There's other lobe called the insular lobe, which people don't usually think about because it is the only region you can't see from the surface.
