Acrostic Poetry and Scripture in the Book of Lamentations
The Book of Lamentations is written in a mixed poetic form, with various genres interwoven. We see elements of a dirge, communal complaint, prayer and other forms all bound together. Most of the book is written in an acrostic form, but with some variations. Other examples of acrostic poetry and scripture can be found elsewhere in the Psalms.
