The eridu archaeological site was originally investigated in the 18 fifties, with significant studies being made there after the second world war. It is believed that erid started out as a humble village before five thousand b c e, and over the course of the next two thousand years, had become a settlement of no less than four thousand people. Archaeology demonstrates that eridu was a significant sight of fishing with much in the way of equipment such as nets. And weits bein excavated as well as dried fish remains.
