A New Perspective on Translation

When I was there, there were a few things in our manuals that we taught initially and then they took them out. And as we're testifying of these events, it created some dissonance. It would be really difficult to tell someone actually the church doesn't necessarily believe that this happened. That's why sometimes it's taught here and sometimes it's not because we don't really know. We have been able to take this idea of an inspired text or kind of this revelation. But contemporary scholarship says, well, even that additional translation is not correct. Not right? They just kind of sweep it aside or they say, "One day we'll know all the truth"
