Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny's new trial began today on charges of extremism that could keep him in prison for decades. It comes off the back of an anti-war activist dying in a Russian prison last week after being tortured. A doctor in Russia's Rostov region has said Russian soldiers traumatized by war are numbing themselves with alcohol and drugs. And it sort of tallies with a story in the telegraph over the weekend written by Arbario and James Kilner that the Kremlin has also doubled its wine allowance for Russian officials.
